Yeti set out to eliminate this limiting factor with the new SB-95. Thanks to a direct-mount front derailleur and Yeti?s compact Switch Technology eccentric suspension, Yeti engineers were able to tuck the large rear wheel as far as possible under the rider and keep the chain stays short. The end result is a long-travel 29er chassis that handles with surprising ease and eagerness.Unlike multi-link suspension designs which require linkages packed in between the main triangle and rear triangle, Yeti?s Switch Technology features an eccentric mechanism buried low in the frame, requiring minimal chain stay length. This compact eccentric continuously adjusts the lower pivot position, allowing for a rearward, small-bump damping axle path while maintaining a firm, pedal-friendly platform. Start to blow through the travel and the eccentric rotates in the opposite direction for a responsive midstroke, and finally to the end position where the suspension becomes progressively stiffer to provide big hit absorption.
